These 2021 fashion trends will still be relevant for 2022…

Hey ya’ll!

So, we’ve crossed over into a new year by God’s grace! I hope you had a very blessed New Year and had time to celebrate, reflect, recharge, and get set up for the year ahead. To kick off the blogs for the new year, we’re talking about 2021 trends that will still be relevant and going strong in 2022. I like these posts because it’s great to see which trends are showing some staying power, and if I’m on the fence about a certain trend piece, I can get an idea of the potential cost-per-wear- because it’s about getting the most mileage from our pieces. Feel free to check out the round-up of trends from 2021 as well, because many of those trends are also relevant for 2022.

Now, with that all said, here are here are some of the trends from 2021 that are anticipated to still be going strong in 2022.

Bright Colours

Bright colours emerged as style stars in 2021. Vibrant greens, pinks, yellows, and orange were some of the highlighted colours of 2021. Personally, I’ve enjoyed the bright colours trend because it’s challenged me to step into wearing more colour and having more fun with my outfits overall. I find adding pops of colour is one of the easiest ways to do this, especially if you’re used to wearing mainly neutrals (like me) and not sure where to start with wearing more colour. The colourful life continues into 2022, so wear your best and brightest! Trending colours for 2022 include tangerine orange and periwinkle blue, but pretty much any colour goes, so have fun with it!

Chunky, Lug-Sole Footwear

In 2021, we saw chunky, lug-soled shoes and boots take over street style footwear thanks to Bottega Veneta’s chunky-soled boots and Prada’s iconic loafers. In 2021, the momentum of these shoes moves into 2022. If you want to branch into this trend, but also want your footwear to have some longevity for a few seasons, then I think opting for a timeless shoe style, like a loafer, with a more streamlined lug sole would be a good option. So, whether you decide to go with a more low-key look or jump into the deep end with this trend, there are footwear options for you.

Brown Hues

Chocolate brown was definitely a trending colour for Fall/Winter 2021, and it’s still going strong into 2022. As someone who wears a lot of neutrals, I like the richness and depth that brown adds to an outfit, especially when paired with cream or a pair of light-wash denim. I also find that it’s a great alternative to black, offering something that can still function as a darker neutral, but then not look too harsh- which will work really well on the sunnier, brighter spring and summer summer days.

Back to the Cottage

In 2022, we’re going back to the countryside! 2021 saw the prominence of cottage-esque aesthetic with easy, flowy dresses in whimsical florals, and ruffles, and puffy sleeves, and the look seems to be around again for another spring/summer season. This year, however, there’s the addition gingham as one of the stand-out prints for spring and summer season. Gingham is one of those timeless summer patterns, so this year is the year to rock any gingham pieces you have in your wardrobe.

Which 2021 trends do you plan to wear again this year? I plan to venture into more colours (green has been a current fave). Let me know your picks in the comments!

Peace and blessings,

Claire
