Spring is in the Air! Transitional Weather Outfits You Can Wear into Spring

Spring is here!

Y’all, I can’t even begin to tell you how much I am enjoying the warmer weather, the increased hours of daylight, and ending the workday while the sun is still out. I’m a spring/summer weather type of person through and through, and I’m so excited for the outfit options that the warmer weather brings. So, in celebration of warmer days ahead, I’m sharing some outfits that I think are great options as we transition into the warmer weather months.

Let me know which outfit is your fave in the comments below!

Beige Top + Colourful Trousers

Can I say that I am just in love with the combination of beige and bright pops of colour. When I first saw this type of colour combo, it was beige and light blue, and at that moment, my eyes were opened to the styling possibilities of wearing beige in more colourful ways.

I find that in spring, though the sun is out a lot more (yay!), is still a bit chilly, so the beige turtleneck offers warmth, especially when paired with more light-weight trousers, like these green ones I’m wearing from Zara (sorry, they’re out of stock but Zara now has some similar ones). The colour combo looks more interesting than a classic white or cream top would, while still keeping the overall look light and bright. A chocolate brown top would also work well for this type of colour combo, providing the interesting and unexpected colour combo we’re going for.

Sweater + Jeans + Sandals

If there was an outfit I’ve worn tons of times in different iterations, this one is it: a sweater (usually tucked) plus jeans and sandals. My favourite version of this outfit for Spring is pairing a colourful sweater with light wash jeans and sandals. To me, the goal of transitional weather dressing for Spring is to look cute and incorporate more colour, while also staying warm. I find one of the easiest way to do this is by pairing fall/winter pieces, like sweaters or sweatshirts, with warmer-weather pieces like light-wash jeans and flowy skirts and dresses. For footwear, I like to go with lighter colours or sandals (more often, it’s sandals), keeping things light and spring-like. There are so many ways you can try this outfit combo; from sticking with a neutral palette, to incorporating pops of colour in your sweater or footwear. And, of course, you can always style this dressed up with heels and a fancy purse, or dressed down with flat sandals or flat shoes (like loafers).

Knit Dress + Leather Jacket

A leather jacket is definitely one of my essential outerwear pieces for spring. I find that leather jackets offer the warmth needed on the cooler spring days, while also adding major style points to your outfit. Unlike coats, a leather jacket can be kept on indoors easily, so it can be part of your outfit. The pairing of a knit dress with the leather jacket has a mixture of fabrics and textures that adds instant interest to the outfit and is a great way to bring your knitwear into the warmer months. For footwear, there are so many options, but I opted for ankle boots in the outfit pictured below. You can also try loafers for something a little more casual, or a pair of sneakers.

Satin Skirt + Sweatshirt

Now this is a an outfit that is perfect for a casual-cool, comfortable and chic look that can be dressed up or down (I obviously chose to dress this up with my favourite heels). I love this outfit for days when I want to be comfortable, yet look chic and polished. The sweatshirt offers the laid-back essence of the outfit (and keeps you warm), while the satin skirt elevates the look and brings in some polish and airiness to the look. I’ve worn this outfit to church, and it’s been perfect for providing comfort without sacrificing style.

Shorts + Cardigan

I love this outfit because it offers a cool alternative to the classic combo of a skirt and a cardigan. Tailored Bermuda shorts or culottes offer the same chic look as a skirt, but you get the comfort of a pair of shorts. Honestly, when I heard Bermuda shorts were making a comeback last summer in 2021, I really wasn’t sure about it. However, once I saw shorts that looked more tailored and dressy, I jumped on the train. It looks like H&M has re-stocked the pair of shorts that I’m wearing in my outfit pictured below, so check them out! For the outfit, the shorts bring the warm weather vibes, while the cardigan keeps things warm and cozy; creating an easy, no-fuss outfit. For footwear, I’d say a pair of heeled mules (like I opted for) or boots would work great!
